1st day
Transfer or independent arrival to Pula.
2nd day: Pula loop (60 km, climb 700mt)
An exciting warm up route will lead you to Chia, probably the most beautiful beach in southern Sardinia. Return to Pula riding along a coastal road with a breathtaking view.
3rd day: Pula – Santadi (49 km, climb 1100mt)
We soon make the acquaintance of the landscape that will accompany us throughout the week: the Mediterranean forest with ilex and cork trees. In few kilometres the sharp bends of Pixinamanna take you up to 700mt a.s.l., but the following descent is the right reward for the effort made.
Your destination tonight is an Agriturismo with genuine local cuisine surrounded by Carignano del Sulcis vineyards, the local grape.
4th day: Santadi – Domusnovas (47km, climb 800mt)
Ride along the former mining site of Rosas, one of the most fascinating examples of mining archaelology, surrounded by the embrace of holm oak woods. It was one of the first ‘official’ mines in Sardinia. Today, the mining buildings and village have become an accurate and fascinating open-air museum exhibition of industrial archaeology. After enjoying a picnic in the idyllic setting of S’Ortu Mannu, a centenary olive grove, you reach the Domunovas, the village of the grottoes
5th day: Domusnovas – Buggerru (50 km, climb 1250mt)
Venture into the bowels of the earth to discover the scenic wonders of the San Giovanni cave. On
the other side of the cave, you find the forest of Marganai, a natural paradise. A series of rugged peaks, covered in dense woodland vegetation whose scenic beauty is still intact. Visit the Roman temple of Antas, that for centuries laid undiscovered in a remote valley. End your day with a brilliant descent to Buggerru that takes you back to the sea at the spectacular bay of Portixeddu.
6th day: Buggerru – Montevecchio (50 km, climb 1000mt)
Today, we follow the coastline to reach the unspoilt beach of Scivu. The old villages of Ingortosu and Montevecchio remind us the significant role that mining played in this area in the years gone by.
7th day: Montevecchio loop (40 km, climb 850mt)
Ride to one of the most fascinating spots of the island’s, the beach of Piscinas with its sand dunes over 50 m high – some of the highest in Europe. The afternoon climb is a nice way to say arrivederci to Sardinia as you slowly move inland from the Costa Verde following the unique profile of Monte Arcuentu.
8th day
After breakfast, end of service
